Pittstopblogger is back!!
Pittstop is back! I am glad to be back writing my weekly sports blogs and giving my take on the top news in the sports world. I have been away for a while, as I was extremely busy becoming acclimated with college life at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. This first semester included lots of papers, exams, presentations, as well as homework, and more homework. Besides the rigorous academic work at Wake, I was fortunate enough to make it onto the club tennis team roster of 25 people among 60 who tried out. Joining the team has been an amazing experience for me, and being able to play with people from all over the world and making meaningful friendships is something I will not take for granted.
The sports world has drastically changed due to the unprecedented global pandemic we are all in right now. The NBA had the bubble and several health protocols in place to combat the virus and to ensure the players and team staff remained healthy, and games were able to happen. The NFL currently is in the midst of a 17-week schedule and has enforced several rules as well that forces players to stay at home as much as possible, to limit gatherings, and many more health regulations to allow these games to happen. Lastly, the MLB had a shortened 60 game season, that along with the NFL, resulted in multiple games being postponed or forfeited, and various schedule changes. The NBA and the MLB were able to complete their seasons during these times and crowned the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers champions of their respective league.
As this pandemic rages on, there will be many more adjustments to various sports leagues that are affected by this virus. Will the NCAA see their football and basketball seasons through? When will fans be allowed back into stadiums at full capacity, and things return back to normal? No one knows, and only time will tell. With the vaccine becoming more of a reality, things could change in the upcoming months and sports return back to normal. I will continue to cover this pandemic and its relation to sports, and bring the hottest stories, and I cannot wait to resume Pittstopblogger. Let’s go!
